After browsing through the usual junk mail I receive in my mailbox I sifted through them all to find just the ones that interest me, each Sunday usually starts off with coffee and a good read through all the latest lifestyle wants that could better my desire to have the very best there is. On this particular day I thought I'd try something different, instead of dreaming about owning all these fancy gadgets and such why not play a game where I only had one choice.

So I put it down to just 6 most wanted things: iPhone, Laptop, PC, Gaming Console, TV or an External HDD.

With these choices money is of no issue, this is just a simple dream of having the best of just one, so it really got me thinking what would be the ideal choice?

• 1. An iPhone would give me status and also the very best phone on the planet hands down, no other phone will ever compete with this thing of beauty.
• 2. The latest laptops from Alienware is something to drool over. Quad Core, 4 Gigs of DDR3, Dual Graphics just makes my back shiver.
• 3. Alienware again comes to the table with the all new Intel Corei7-965 Extreme, Quad GPU Graphics, 12 Gigs just to get you started!
• 4. A gaming console of your choice, I quite like the PS3.
• 5. A brand spanking new HD TV would change the way I view TV forever, watching BlueRay movies in full HD or even anything in HD gives me goose bumps.
• 6. An external HDD with 5 Terabytes of storage to put my entire life onto.

After thinking long and hard about what I would choose it became very difficult to decide what I would go with, do I go with the very latest PC's? An iPhone or HD TV? The choices were then filtered down even more, sure the latest desktop, laptop or TV are hot and would be an ideal choice but in 1 year or 2 these devices will no longer be the very latest thing on the market, so these unfortunately and regretfully were removed from the list. Sob! Sob!

So that leaves an iPhone, Gaming Console and an External HDD. Ok a gaming console requires a decent TV and is better played on an HD TV which I don't have so this is removed. Also I'm not a hardcore gamer and I don't really have the time for it. So now it's down to just 2: Phone or Storage.

So an iPhone, this is by far the best technological device I have seen in probably my entire life. With so many clones of this thing out there nothing comes close to the perfection of the iPhone, there's so much this phone can do and there's plenty more on the way too I'm sure. I've seen this device in the flesh and it's truely an amazing thing and to navigate by simply touching the screen is oh so cool!!

Finally the External HDD, the sole purpose is just for storage. What this gives me is a digital suitcase to lock away all my memories, photos, personal files, music, videos and work, the list goes on.

So what device comes out on top?

The 5 Terabyte External HDD!

This wins because of one thing: Storage!
Family photos and media are more precious than anything else in this world, every photo is a moment in time that can never be relived only remembered, 5 years from now I will still be able to look back at the past and relive all the times and memories from days gone by and watch my son grow through the various libraries of photos taken from year to year.

In the end it came down to thinking long-term and making a choice that would benefit me in the long run. Personally I can't believe I actually chose the storage over everything else but I feel the right choice was made.
