This will be a game to watch out for in '08. Metroid II: Return of Samus has now been remade into a 2D side scrolling fan remake! Project AM2R is behind the development of this remake of the classic game and so far the game looks amazing.

Most fan remakes of games just don't seem to be anywhere as good as the real thing however this game is by far the most polished and comprehensive thing I've seen in a long time, a tech demo is currently available to try out and believe me its worth it. This game so far looks and plays very smoothly with tight responsive controls and movement. Using the standard keys can be a little lose and strenuous on the hands though but support for game pads will be in the final version.

The creator of this game has his own blog which details all the progress on the game so far along with a FAQ list to hopefully answer all your burning questions. The bulk of the development has been done so far with the level design and Sound FX still with a far way to go. It's too early yet but the overall level design so far looks really nice, the layered long distance backgrounds look amazing and add so much depth. The sound track to this game is perfect and I hope it's part of the final product.

So far so good judging from what I've seen and played ..... my joystick will once again be called upon.
